Left apartment with Nav lady in charge, zig zagging straight up hillside on very narrow concrete roads. Very steep to suddenly appear on the motorway and heading through a 5 km tunnel then off to the town of Hum and a wild goose chase looking for sculptures to please the driver ! Hummmmm sums it up the least said the better. Back onto Nics tours and we arrived at the awesome hill town of Motovun. Perched up high surrounded by town walls, cobbled streets, tree shaded courtyards with tall steepled church on top. A good example of hilltop towns in area. Amazing views of countryside with olives, grapes, crops and no livestock. Self made ice cream for Charlotte, wine tasting for Janet and Nic then we were off.

Nav lady took us to have lunch beside a coastal inlet/fiord then onto seaside town of Rovinj. This had something for everyone, a bustling seaside lovely old town, lots of people. Narrow cobbled streets shuttered windows with washing hanging between buildings and lovely shops to cater for all. Home via cliff top roadway with amazing vistas of surrounding islands but the driver with fear of heights was not happy.

What we learnt from our day was that the guidebook does get a bit carried away with its hidden gems !!
