Arrived Dubrovnik Tuesday evening, local bus to Pile Gate arriving about 7pm.
Walked along the Stradun to clock tower to wait for our apartment person. Thousands of people milling around. Apartment on 3rd floor looking down on a square and straight into Cathedral, a minutes walk from Main Street and 2 mins walk to a door out through the wall to the sea for a swim.
Wednesday early start to beat crowds and heat walking city walls. 2km long and up to 25m high, amazing views down into city over rooftops and to sea below.
Went to War photo Ltd, a gallery started by NZ photographer from Eke. Exhibits of war photography showing the break up of Yugoslavia and later conflicts. Some very graphic scenes and very well displayed, quite sobering.
Afternoon spent wandering various alleys which are mainly all filled with restaurants,bars and souvenir shops. Swim off rocks beneath wall later on to cool off. Drinks then out for dinner.
Thursday - cable car to top of hill. Amazing views over city and harbour, somewhat spoilt by a red head clinging on to cliff below us !!!
Walk round, then lunch and last swimming in Adriatic to cool off.
Boys went to bus station to get tickets for their onward travel to Montenegro in the morning. We have early start 4am taxi to airport for flight to Zagreb.
