We arrived in Anaheim by Greyhound bus at around 7pm on the 15th July and checked in to our hotel, which is just two blocks from Disneyland.
We've both been to Disneyworld in Florida and Disneyland in Paris so we knew to expect crowds when we made it to the theme park the next morning - a Saturday in July! It felt like we were swimming through the crowds rather than walking. We were quite lucky with the queues though and didn't have to wait more than 15-30 minutes for any ride. We also 'met' Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore and Minnie Mouse and, to top it all off, at 9.30pm there were spectacular fireworks above the castle that danced through the sky in time to various Disney songs.
The next day we woke up late; Jak flooded the bathroom (don't ask, we used up all our towels in an attempt to clean it up and have been hiding from the cleaners ever since) and relaxed by the pool before going out for a nice meal. A real lazy day :-)
On Monday we spent the day in Disney's California Adventure Park, the sister park to Disneyland. It was less crowded and just as good. The Aladdin theatre show was on par with anything you'd see in the West End, albeit shorter in length (45 minutes) and the World of Colour shows at 9pm and 10.15pm, where Disney characters are portrayed with water, colours, music and fire was bloody amazing. Jak reckoned he'd finally been 'Disneyfied' after seeing it. This meant he wanted to run in to the nearest shop and buy lots of souvenirs and stay in the park until it closed riding things again and again...then when he woke up this morning he'd actually dreamt how he could get a higher score on one of the rides and wanted to try it out. Hence the looks of intense concentration on our faces in the photo! I think he's missing the Playstation.
Today we split our time between both parks hoovering up the must-do rides with the long queues that we'd avoided so far, like Space Mountain and Splash Mountain (we queued an hour and a half for that one!! We'll never get that time back!) We're going to have an earlyish night as we're off to San Diego in the morning.
Having a great time but wish I had the ability to teleport home for a bit. My Nan had an operation the other day and it feels weird to be on the other side of the world :-S Sending lots of love back home xxxxxxxx
