On day three of our bus tour we travelled to the Crazy Horse Memorial and on to Mount Rushmore. Both were impressive although the Crazy Horse Memorial will blow Mount Rushmore out of the water once it is eventually finished as it will be much much bigger. Unfortunately it is unlikely that the remaining 80% or so will be finished in our lifetime.
The scenery around these two attractions is fairly boring - it looks like teletubby land with heaps of gently rolling green hills and not much else. On our way to our hotel in Wyoming we drove through a park called 'Bear Country' where various animals including mountain lions and lots and lots of bears roam around freely, like a mini safari, which broke the drive up.
On day four we arrived in Yellowstone National Park, which is absolutely Immense. The whole park is located within a volcanic crater and still bubbles and steams and hisses away in places so you can't forget its origin and what lies beneath. We watched the Old Faithful geyser erupt, felt the steam from the orange, turquoise and white whirlpools on our faces and visited the waterfall in the park's canyon :-))
Today we journeyed south through Grand Teton National Park (beautiful snow-topped mountains) and Jackson Hole. We'll be staying in Salt Lake City tonight. Currently eating our third Macdonalds in five days...both missing English food!!

Kevan Its all very tiring isn't it. Lots to see but long distances to cover to get there. Scenery overload at times. Hope you don't struggle getting a beer in Salt Lake City as it tends to be a dry State. There are bars of course but not like other parts of the USA. Also be careful there - they are always on the look out to convert you to God/their mormon religion. All a bit sinister really - with most inhabitants contributing from their taxes to fund the church. Lots of young men/boys go missing every year as well to avoid them taking the young girls away, who are earmarked to be married off to much older church leaders who can have many wives. All a bit dodgy really but stunning scenery, buildings national parks etc and everyone has a false smile which makes it a bit starnge at times. Jak - get your glasses replaced where is cheap.
Nic Apparently we will have travelled 3500 miles this week; it's crazy how big America is! Going to a Mormon temple today... they will have no luck trying to convert us if there is no alcohol haha. Jak has a spare pair of glasses that he is using at the mo but will keep our eyes peeled for a cheap opticians so we can get a back up
