Yesterday we left NYC and caught an Amtrak train up to Niagara Falls. The journey is meant to take nine and a half hours but actually took eleven and a half as the train driver didn't seem to be in any rush; we kept drifting to a standstill while we waited for signals to turn green or for freight trains to pass. After writing our blog the other day we headed to the Met Museum. Museums aren't really Jak's cup of tea but even he was impressed by some of the exhibits, like the Egyptian temple from 15 BC and the armour/weaponry exhibition. Plus entry is by 'suggested donation' which means it is a pretty cheap day out. After we reached Times Square the other day we ended up getting repeatedly sidetracked and failed miserably in our quest to reach the green lady. It's understandable really; the Toys R Us in Times Square has a frigging full size ferris wheel in it and the M&Ms store has huuuge tubes that reach from the floor to the ceiling and are filled with every colour M&M you can imagine. Then as we started to make some headway it started raining - not just drizzling...

So we're finally on our way! We are so used to getting cheap flights that it was a bit of a novelty to be able to ask for as much drink as we want on the way over. And to be able to choose decent films to watch on demand rather than just watching one naff film on a crappy teeny tiny screen halfway down the aircraft.
