Our first chill out! Ranakpur is a rural village with very few tourists passing through. The main attraction is the Jain temple which is absolutley amazing. It was built in 1439 and centres around the number 72. It measures 72 x 72 yards and is held up by 1440 individually carved pillars. Jodhpur is the second biggest city in Rajasthan so it's fairly busy and dirty. It's known as the blue city as many of it's buildings are painted blue. This is done to keep the houses cool and also to act as an insect repellant - very clever! However, after experimenting with a tin of blue paint we can confirm this does not also work on humans! Bikaner - home of the infamous rat temple. Started with a lovely roof top dinner at our hotel. Woke early and drove to the rat temple. This branch of hinduism believes that we are reincarnated as rats and have therefore built a temple to worship them. It is considered lucky for a rat to run over your bare feet!!! We left Delhi behind and started our mamouth drive North. After 11 hours, we arrived in Amritsar, home of Sikhism. We crashed out ready for a full day of sight seeing on Sunday, the Sikh holy day. Hi Everyone, Well after months of planning we've finally arrived in Delhi and we love it! We slept most of yesterday as we were so tired (see video diary and excuse how rough Nic looks!)
