We travelled from Bangkok to the border by train and then got a taxi to Siem Reap. The town is famous for Angkor Wat and most of the tourism is due to that. The actual town is a French colonial area and is a really pretty town. We had our first Cambodian curry which was gorgeous and had a look round the local market.
On the second day we visited the famous and apparently breath taking Angkor Wat. We got up at 4.30am eager to view the temples at sun rise. However, once we arrived we soon realised that we were probably the most under whelmed people ever to visit Angkor Wat. We walked around about 7 temples that morning all built in different eras of the Khmer empire. The most exciting point was walking around the temple where Tomb Raider was filmed pretending to be Angelina Jolie! I'm sure if you are into ruins with a lot of carvings on this would be the place for you - it seems that we're not!
