With all the trips we had booked on the east coast we got a free canoe trip in the Noosa Everglades. Noosa itself is very posh and everybody talks like the two characters from Kath and Kim that work in the shopping centre! We had a nice bunch of people on the trip, who all happened to be British. We camped in the national park for 2 nights. We canoed for 1 and a half hours to our campsite, Harry's Hut. The Noosa river is beautiful, it is also called the river of mirrors as the reflection of the sky and trees in the water is so clear. I really enjoyed the canoeing as it was so peaceful. On the second day we canoed to another site and then walked for over an hour to the 'Sand Patch'. Basically it is a huge sand dune in the middle of the forest, don't ask me why, it's just another of Australia's wonders. The views were really good up there, we could see the sea, the river and vast empty land on the other side. We all did a bit of dune jumping and then made the long trip back, walking and canoeing back to Harry's Hut. It was a long day but definitely worth it. There were quite a few other groups camping there too, and we sat around a camp fire to keep as warm, it got quite cold at night. As free trips go it was really good. We have put new photos on now. After arriving back in Noosa we planned a trip to Australia Zoo, which is Steve Irwin's Zoo. It certainly doesn't feel like he is gone here. His picture is still everywhere and you can buy little Steve plastic toys etc. I saw his mother and son while I was there. His son Robert is still only small but I doubt it will be long until he follows his sister Bindi, who is really famous here and she has her own Kids fitness video, even though she is only about 7! The Zoo was excellent, you can feed the Kangaroos, and elephants and cuddle Koalas, which I just had to do. They are so cute, but they do smell a bit. You can get so close to all the animals (except the crocs!).
