Greetings from Puno!! Yesterday and today we visited Lake Titikaka, it was so much fun!! We visited Taquille island first, and saw lots of traditional dancing in the Plaza de Armas. Then we had a homestay with a Peruvian family, they´re so poor, they have electricity but no mod cons, and the houses are tiny, really small concrete type blocks, yet they cope so well and seem so happy!! After a game of football (us versus the locals...needless to say, I was a spectator, ha ha) we went to our island casa´s. Barney and I stayed with the same family and our "island mom" was really nice (not as nice as you though mom!! ha ha!!) Well, we say she was really nice...we didn´t communicate very well as she didn´t even understand our "pigeon" Spanish, let alone English, ha ha!! After we´d learned how to say "can we help do the dishes" and everything!! Probably because they speak a different Andean language as well as Spanish (nothing to do with our dodgy Spanish pronounceation I´m sure, ha ha!!) They had a donkey, and chickens!!! (luckily I wasn´t too terrified..ha ha!!) The son showed us a few card games and we had dinner cooked for us. In the evening we all met up for some traditional dancing in the school hall, and we were all dressed up in the traditional clothes, it was ace!! This morning we went to visit the Uros floating islands, the islanders actually make their islands out of reeds that grow in the lake, everything is made from them!! Their houses, the boats, its really cool!! Ricky, Moore and I were extra lucky because we went to look around a ladys house and she dressed us up....more fancy dress, ha ha!! We went out in a reed boat too which was good!! Really enjoyed it!!
Well tomorrow its adios Peru, hola Bolivia!! I´ll write again soon!! xxxxxxxxxxx
