We got the Greyhound from Brisbane to Surfers yesterday morning, it rained all the way!! The nice young man behind the backpacker info counter called our hostel to get their mini bus to pick us up. They forgot about us.... so 40 mins later he called them again and we were officially on our way. This hostel has a pool and a hot tub, we watched from the window as the rain poured into them! We are sharing with 2 scandinavian birds who don't talk to us and have smelly feet - we're thinking about doing a smelly feet dorm league - we've only stayed in two and there's already some whiff competition, boom boom! We were going to do and find a super market but instead had a little nap, I woke up to find Natalie discussing BBQ arrangments with a nice young man from downstairs and demanding that I give him $5 - I complied and went to sleep again. About 5.30 went down for the BBQ - it was like something from my childhood, one bloke on his own standing in the rain cookin burgers (dad is that you? - I was still a little sleepy). We ate our food and decided to sample to local beverage, about 7 hours later after deciding that we were the funniest people in the west, we fell into our bunks! We woke up this morning at about 10, then again at 12 and finally got out of bed at 1pm. Its actually sunny - we can't believe it! We went to the super market, not the best thing to do after a night sampling the local beverage, and spent about a $million on fooooodd! We were quite good though, bought things like pasta, salad, chicken and cous cous - actually the only reason we never loaded up on junk was cos we couldn't carry anything else! Should see us through the day at least! Went back and cleaned the dingiest kitchen in the west and made a huge amount of chicken and salad with pitta bread - get us! The two boys in the kitchen at the same time as us must have been well jealous, it took the two of them to figure out scrambled eggs ('it doesn't matter how much milk you put in, just stick a load in to bulk it out!') and they spent about 20 mins shouting at the microwave before they managed to heat up plastic food in a box and left the hob on! Bless! Went for a walk around the town, its should be called Designer Handbag Paradise, there are so many lovely shops. Natalie tells me there are many handsome men folk in the area - I hadn't really noticed, cough cough.
