Another exciting day in Norway. This morning we had to be on the bus by 7am so we put ate a quick breakfast and headed out to the bus where we, of course went through another barrage of tunnels and narrow roads until we arrived at another UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Gerirangerfjord. Unfortunately it was very foggy but we still saw some beautiful cliff farms and waterfalls. We then took Eagle Road to the top of the cliff. It was pretty frightening with 11 hairpin turns, but our bus driver is AMAZING!!
We drove along the coastline and back up to another plateu where we enjoyed more scenery (and some rain) for quite a while. One of the most amazing things we saw was the Trollstigen Road. We started at the top of a very big cliff and took some photos from a scenic overlook. Luckily the fog started to lift and we could see the winding road below. We then made our way down the cliff…on a huge bus…oh my goodness. Some of us had to cover our eyes. It always looked like we were going over the cliff on the turns. Whew!
After a long bus ride we arrived in Røros, another UNESCO site where we explored the streets, the old copper mining area and cute little shops. This town is known for its artists and craftsmen. We had another wonderful meal in the hotel (included, yeah!) and took another walk and now we are relaxing in the hotel.
Tomorrow we have one more day of sight seeing and we should be back to the ship by 6pm. Noooooooo! We don't want this trip to end!
