following on from the last update there really isn't much to tell...
we went to angkor wat and around the temples, they were good to see but i can tell you that 4.15am is not a pretty hour!! the temples were cool, some have been restored or are in the process of being restored, but are still crumbling away.
after seeing the temples (although 3 days is advised we took 6 hours to do it) we came back and fell asleep. sweet sweet sleep! haha! we slept on and off for pretty much the next 36 hours, getting up when we were hungry or a bit restless. we started to watch a film on HBO (twister) there was a thunderstorm and the power cut, it did come back and we went for some snack supplies to carry on watching films. the hotel guy warned us, be careful for the puddles and the act it'll be slippy. 2 mins away from the entrance, bang, i fall flat on my face in the clay mud! not fantastic but never mind - i'll rinse the clothes off and have them properly cleaned at some pint - with a washing maching and all! :)
more sleeping followed this, and then when we got up and went for some food we watched a show of the traditional dancing which was cool, and booked on to a cookery class for the next day.
the cookery class was pretty much all we did that day, we made spicy 'shrimp'salad and chicken fried with ginger. we then came back and read a lot, we've been reading up on the history of cambodia so that when we go south we have a bit of background knowledge - these people have suffered immensely and only 30 yrs ago - it's absolutely incomprehensible to me, really it is. after a reading session we went to the restaurant that housed our cooking class and had bbq'd snake for dinner. the twist is they bring out raw snake and veg and we cook it on the table ourselves...
post snake we went to the night market and had a 'fish massage' - you put your feet in a pool of tiny fish and they nibble at them - it tickles sooooo much! i was laughing my head off - squealing! they thought i was in pain but it just tickled!! we looked around the market which is a nice night market and headed back. i fell asleep straight away, there's a shock! today has been more reading, it's so hot and there's not an immense amount to o that's within our budget here so reading in the cool is a good option!!
that brings you up to date. tomorrow we're moving south to phnom penh which is where all the history seems to have started, i think we're going to be humbled in one way or another. beyond this on sat we're flying to kuala lumpur, it will be dad's birthday - i'm hoping i can get to a phone booth or something!
take care all and another update will foolow soon.
lots of love
