we've been in phnom pen for a couple of ays now, we've not done a massive amount due to the exhausting heat (i must say i'll be pleased to greet some relatively normal temps in oz!) and then the thunderstorms at night, but we have managed to see the S21 school where they detained victims under khmer rouge, the killing fields and also the grand palace (as pictured above). i still think it's a little bit beyond me to understand quite what went on here, when they showed us trees that they used to use to kill the children against you know it would have happened but my mind's putting a block at anything past that! the fact that you walk around and look down to find you're stood on teeth... the collection of bones and skulls that they have is massive, it's like the sort of thing you never want to have to imagine has happened.
the palace was nice, much like the grand palace in bangkok though, to be honest i may be all cultured out around now, my mind nees a break, but that's what we're using oz for...
other than that in the eves we've just watched films in our luxury accommodation, a wooden hut whose stilts are based in water/sludge. wood in water, that's great in the middle of a thunderstorm haha! this afternoon we fly to kuala lumpur and have until thursday in malaysia, thursday we fly to Oz.
not much of an update i kno but i'm sure it's enough for you to feast on!
hope you're all well and missing me, i can't believe our first month is done! not long and i'll be back at home suffering one hell of a case of jetlag i imagine!! haha!
lots of love to you all
