Neil's Round the World Trip!
We got up at noon again feeling really rough and hungover. I tried to have my breakfast but could hardly finish it. I felt really queasy and drained of energy! Shaun fared better and wolfed down his breakfast and was in better spirits.
We'd still not seen any of the city during daylight hours so the girls took us into the city on the train. We got off at Central Station put our luggage in a vault and then walked along to the Royal Palace, Gamla Stan and the waterfront. We ambled along the pretty, cobbled but heavily touristy streets.
The girl's took us to Sandy's (a Swedish kind-of Subway deli). The girls urged us to try the reindeer sub and so we did but it was really spicy and the reindeer fragrance was giving me the boak! I hardly ate it. Damn my weak stomach after a heavy night on the lash!
Shaun was fine and bought an ice-cream slurping it as we took in some of the beautiful cobbled squares and nice buildings. I hoped my appetite would come back as we decided to have dinner in a nice Gamla Stan restaurant that Ebba works in as a waitress. It was a really nice Italian restaurant on the main touristy street. We had pasta dishes with Julia while Ebba worked. It was so tasty I wished I hadn't been feeling so nauseous as it took me about an hour to eat most of it; but I couldn't finish it all.
We said farewell to Ebba and had a "team hug" then it was off to Central Station to pick up the luggage evading the guards so we could get on free. We said farewell to Julia and got on our bus back to Skavsta airport. We slept for most of the journey as we left the beautiful city of Stockholm.
At the airport we again got charged a fiver for luggage. Shaun found and bought a metal tube of kaviar with a smiley face (Joachim) on it he found amusing. The front page of Expressen (a Swedish tabloid) had Henke Larsson on the front apparently he decked someone in a Swedish league match...crazy!
We had a comfortable flight back to Scotland (still raining just as we'd left it) but on arrival around 11pm realised that the last train had already left. A bus would take us to Glasgow but was going to take 1 hour 30 minutes. So we ended up having to get a fifty quid taxi back to our town but after such a fun trip it couldn't take the smile off our faces :)
