Neil's Round the World Trip!
I bought my flight to Cairns so I leave on Thursday night. I was going to go to Uluru and Alice Springs but decided it was too much money and I don't think it's worth it as apart from the rock there's nothing else to do plus its really hot, there are swarms of annoying flies and unfriendly locals. There is loads to do on the East Coast and I now have only 3 and half weeks left in Australia so need to do Great Barrier Reef etc.
We dropped off our hire car and walked around the city, the weather is 23c. I might do a tour of nearby Kangaroo Island as I've been in Australia almost a month and I've seen no kangaroos only dead ones by the side of the road.
Think we might get a tram down to the beach later and check out the happening suburb of Glenelg.
I walked around the city and bought some food from the nearby supermarket. I'm going to make my own meals as I'm staying for a few days and try to save cash.
A Dutch girl, Anna made an Indonesian dish and asked us if we wanted some because she'd made too much. We agreed and she had made loads- she could have fed the whole hostel! It was nice and not too spicy. I think it was called "Nasi Goora".
We went to the Bar 108 (the hostel bar) and drank a few beers. I was really tired and my ear was aching for some reason. So I went to bed at 10pm but was woken up at 1am by the hostel staff listening to the radio and drinking outside so I drifted off to sleep at 3am when they'd gone to their beds...
