Neil's Round the World Trip!
We left the Port Fairy Hostel early around 9ish. I drove us to the nearby town of Portland and we stopped for breakfast. I then drove us across the state border into South Australia. We drove along some dramatic coastline and through some quaint fishing villages.
We were 16km from Kingston when the petrol light came on; we were on empty. It was touch or go whether we'd make it but we just made it! I was really tired so I swopped driving with Rob and we drove to the famous "Larry the Lobster" which is a huge lobster built to signify the importance of the lobster industry in Kingston. We got photos taken standing beneath it of course!
We stopped in a few towns on the way to Adelaide to stay the night but they all had no vacancies. So we drove all the way to Adelaide and checked in to Cannon St Backpackers.
Adelaide is a very quiet, spacious city with a small town, provincial feel. There are lots of parks and fountains. There is also a large African community and several Aborigines. There are quite a few beggars which I haven't noticed in the other cities.
We chilled out in the hostel bar as they had a few happy hours. We chatted to few Dutch and English people. The hostel is quite zany and colourful. It's a bit livelier than the last few hostels I've stayed in.
There is another guy in our dorm called Gareth who is really irritating. He just talks and talks...about all his travels with his adventure tour group.
