Neil's Round the World Trip!
We woke up around 9ish and checked out of Chateau Franz. We jumped in the car and set off for Hokitiki. It was a beautiful day, not a cloud in the sky. It only took us 2 hours to get there..ahem may have gone over the speed limit me thinks. We checked into the Just Jade Hostel and chilled out for a while. We walked into town and bought food from the bakery. We ate the food on a picnic table right on the beach which is lovely. The ham in my roll was disgusting; undercooked, slimey, fatty, bacon. I threw it to the seagulls and we were swarmed! We had a walk around the Tampo Boat and I did a Titanic pose from the front of the boat..it seemed like a fun thing to do at the time. We then sat in a modern art structure and talked football.
We got back to the hostel which is owned by a Jade merchant who lets you make your own jade necklace but apparently it takes a day to polish once you've carved it and I don't have time. Anyway we were reading our Spanish books (gearing up for South America) when Ben asked for the keys to Shakira (the car) to get his MP3. I checked my pocket..key wasn't there. I frantically checked the dorm..nothing. We retraced our steps and at the modern art structure glinting in the sunlight was the keys...phew..that was a close one. I was jubilant and bought us a round of drinks we then had a Chinese buffet meal which was rank rotten. We walked along the quaint little streets to Stumpers Bar and had quite a few drinks there and then headed back to our hostel.
