Neil's Round the World Trip!
This morning I had a freezing cold shower!! We had breakfast and then hopped on the bus to Santa Cruz! It's a cool little town with a huge museum that was built by an obscure millionaire. This turned out to be the most wanted man in Chile (by the U.S. anyway) for dealing arms. He isn't allowed out of Chile or the Americans will get him. He has a fasconatong collection of Inca, Mapuche (Indigenous Indians of Chile) and guns! The museum had loads of guns, Nazi uniforms and tractors. I spoke to some Chilean schoolkids in Spanish and they told me the best team in Chile is Colo Colo.
We thendrove for ages along the Pan-American highway and finally reached Pucon in the evening. It's like a beautiful Alpine town with the huge Villarica Volcano looming overhead. This is southern Chile's tourist capital. The town is embedded in the Andean foothills. We stopped at our adventure centre and got kitted up for our climb tomorrow. I'm going to climb a volcano tomorrow woohoo! It's active too, it last erupted in 1992!! It's due a big eruption so here's hoping tomorrow it doesn't blow it's top!
We all went out to the Chef Pato restaurant. Ot was really nice I had some great roast chicken and red wine. We returned to the hostel at 1am as we're up on 5 hours for our climb!
