Sevilla - known for Flamenco dancing, Don Juan, Carmen and where Christopher Colombus ended up. The day started with a light rain which was welcomed, but it was hot a muggy.
We walked awhile to the large (main) Cathedral of Seville, another awesome sight, and climbed the 35 floors to the top of Giraldi Bell Tower which gave us beautiful views of the city. The cathedral also houses the tomb of Christopher Colombus.
Had a quick cafe au lait, then off to meet a guide to show us the Alcazar. A currently used Palace (by Spain's royal family), built many centuries ago, also in the moorish fashion. It combines both muslim architecture along with renaissance christian art works. There is a room dedicated to all the Spanish sailors, including Colombus who explored the "new world".
Sevilla was once the capital and center of Spain, with a large river running through it, ships can come to Sevilla from the sea.
After our tour, we took a buggy ride around the city. We all love Sevilla, it's really a beautiful city.
Walked around, shopped, had a drink at the top of the Dona Maria hotel in the center (again with views of the entire city).
In the evening we went to a great Flamenco Show after we had the BEST dinner so far of the trip at a beautiful outdoor restaurant next to the Flamenco place. Rosemary & Mary Kay each had Veal sirloin with foie gras which was superb and I had Hake fish, also fantastic.
The flamenco show was great, very different from the Gypsy one we saw in Granada (I personally liked the Gypsy one better, they were a little wilder, less technical), but all in all it was a great show.
Home around 1:30am (again) and now we are UP and OFF to PORTUGAL and the ALGARVE COAST. yippee - excited for some Beach and relaxation.
Hasta Luega folks, until later.
