We arrived in Cordoba yesterday afternoon via the AVE fast train. Stayed at Hotel Conquistador across from the Mesquite. The Mesquite dates back to 700 AD and was originally a Mosque. In the 1500's the Christians took over and made it a Church, but it still has many characteristics of a mosque making it quite unique.
Cordoba was once the center of this part of Spain, Morrocco with over a million people living here. Today it is a thriving tourist center. Walked all around the area, though it was quiet due to it being Sunday. The jewish section had a synogue (?) and nice cafes.
It's alot hotter here, high 80's, we are lucky the weather is great. Had a wonderful dinner at Bodegas, which was listed on trip advisor. See cute photos of us and our waiter, Antonio, who we called Andy Garcia. He gave us tickets to the evening light show at the Fort which was very nice.
After being here a week, I now realize that there is no point in trying to rest or go to bed early. They don't start serving dinner til after 8:30pm and the light show started at 11pm - so just get use to going to bed after midnight. But ya still gotta get up fairly early to get going for the day.
Now we are going to pick up our rental car and drive to Granada. Should be interesting.....MORE LATER.
