hey guys
Another entry in one week aren't you the lucky ones?? still won't let me add my photos which is poo will try again when we get to another computer they dont seem to have a usb port on this computer....rubbish!!! and to top it all off it broke today so gonna be using chars camera till i can get another one.
Ok enough of the bad news and onto what's been happening...
Delhi-Pushkar...As i mentioned before Pushkar is a holy city which allows no eggs, meat or alcohol and you have to cover up in what you wear....a very sober weekend for me and charlene. The drive from Delhi to Pushkar was about 7 hours, not too bad actually as we enjoyed taking in the sights and seeing everything. Got to a service stop and i went to go to the toilet as i walked in i braced myself as there were the holes in the ground for me to crouch and wee.....as i was closing the dorr (and holding my breath) i noticed a proper western toilet opposite so legged it over there... very impressed with myself... so far i have avoided the holes in the floor.
Got to Pushkar and pulled in to a really fancy hotel after the long drive we were chuffed to get there.. and anything was better than the place we stayed in in delhi......problem number 1: they were fully booked so we were taken to another hotel, which actually wasnt that bad but the waiting around was a lot of effort. We were sat in the hotel lobby and the driver was talking to us about pushkar...halfway through his entence he burped and just carried on talking...no excuse me or any luck of embarrassment it was almost like it was part of the conversation...i turned to char as if to say did that actually just happen and i could see she was trying not to laugh...well that was it for me i was like a school girl being told not to laugh...i just burst out laughing tears streaming down my face struggling for breath! Char got out the map he had given us and commented on how long the road was in order to stop herself laughing but i was a mess! as we were leaving char said through laughing Jen that was so rude...well that made me start again and then she started and we were laughing non stop for like 10 minutes....we are even sat in the internet room now writing our blogs giggling about it....ok so you may have had to be there but we were there and it was funny!!
Went for dinner that night at the hotel...another amaizng restaurant, they had to turn the lights on when we arrived and open it all up as we were yet again the only people there. We looked at the menu and were spoilt for choice...even in a place that allows no meat and eggs, then a guy comes over to tell us we can only eat from one side so we had like 5 things to choose from. Not as impressed! To be fair though the mushroom curry and cheese naan was pretty damn good! As we were about to leave this guy walked through wearing this bandage around his head and ears it was so funny to see (nice dayyy- only mich char and em will get this) and char asked for the bill when he got closer it wasnt a bandage but army ear muffs, this time it was char who tried to stop herself from laughing but couldnt and literally spat out a laugh and couldnt stop, we were both sat in tears in the restaurant...it was clearly a long and tiring day which sent us abit doolaly!
The next day we headed into Pushkar market where we wrote our first blog entry, honestly for a holy city it is holy s***ty....its disgusting, there are more animals than humans and cows and pigs are just roaming the streets. We saw a protest held by school children by the temple but didnt know what it was for however i would like to protest about kids being allowed signs as i got hit in the face twice! Char got asked out by an 11 year old indian playboy and i got told i had a beautiful smile by a man who's teeth were decomposing by the second! We bought some postcards but can only send a couple at a time, so Mum, Dad, Suz and Grandma you're the lucky ones to get the first batch...hope you like them.
The pushkar lake took my breath away it was so beautiful however it was surrounded by monkeys and pidgeons which kind of ruined it. The monkeys were sat there picking eachother which reminded us of all of us girls. Had a great lunch of hummus and tsatsiki in a place called rainbow cafe then headed back to the room where i got told Liverpool had beaten chelsea so i was a very happy bunny although missed having em there with us to watch it...ok missed watching it all together but got to watch drake and josh...why did i ever stop watching nickelodeon??!!! amazing! We arranged with the private driver and the guy at the hotel (who's name i thought was flamingo until char informed me that was the excursions group name) for a camel ride at 7am the next morning (which i was dreading by the way) and mid convo...guess what?? yeah he burped, oh dear i was off again and char got out the map to looka t the same road as before!!! what is it with indians and their ginger hair, burping and spitting??
6AM The next morning we dragged ourselves out of bed to get this bloomin camel which was not great as me and char had had no sleep as stayed up watching signs and 21. I went up to one and it growled so i left that one and went on the next one...i struggled to get my leg over (no jokes please) and finally got on, it was a two hour ride but managed to get it down to an hour as i was petrified, it was really high and ive never held on so tight in my life. Char was having a whale of a time on hers trying to race while i was just trying to breathe! Although im not sure what i was more scared about being on Ramu the camel or the guide who had decided to get on behind me and was rubbing against me as the camel trotted along...ok yeah i def know which i was more worried about. It was nice though to go around Pushkar at that time in the morning and see all the kids going to school. When we got back to the hotel i noticed my money belt had split at the bottom through the constant jigging on the cmael and my card were halfway down my legs and my money stuck out of my knickers. (Lucky i tucked it all in) Although I still have bruises from that camel and was walking like John Wayne for the rest of the day!
Next chapter we head from Pushkar to Jaipur so stay tuned...and i hope i havent bored you all too much love and miss you as always xxx
