Well hello peeps,
This is my first blog from India, will write as much as i can remember from Delhi and next time I come on can fill you in on the other places i have been.
Ok so arrived in delhi at 12 o clock, the flight was really good (mich and em i did well) had our own private tvs so although i slept through most of it was nice to wake up and watch glee and family guy ...although im pretty sure i cackled a little too loudly on the plane (of which we appeared to be the only two young girls) ...can i still call myself a young girl?? ohh goodd i'm not getting into that now! Anyway got our bags etc then went to arrivals, the hotel company was not there to get us so we got in a taxi and headed for our hotel...except the taxi driver didnt know where the hotel was and the roads were so manic i think i was holding my breath more than breathing!!! We stopped off at a tourist information place and asked the man there who persuaded us to stay somewhere better and cheaper and as we had only paid a 2.50 deposit fee and just wanted to get somewhere we were happy to oblige. However when we got there it was not a nice place!! ok so it wasnt that bad.... but not what we had hoped, there was no creepy crawlies but i wouldnt sya it was particularly clean but to be honest thats what travelling is all about so me and char just go on with it. The people were friendly as well.
We fell asleep for a good 4 hours then headed onto the streets of delhi to get something to eat, only to be stopped by the hotel manager saying its not safe for us at half 7 to be walking around on our own and he had a restaurant upstairs. That was fine with us we wanted an early start the following day so headed up to the "restaurant". I dont think i've ever seen anything like it, it was an empty roof terrace with no tables or chairs or anything....suddenly a guy pulls out this garden table and two garden chairs for us to sit on and they gave us a menu. we ordered two sprites (about 20p each) then chose what we want...as we waited ....and waited some more...it was about an hour later when we realised they werent actually going to take our order so we headed downstairs and ordered room service. The food was actually alright you will see pictures when i get a chance to put them on. I checked the chicken to make sure it was cooked and it was white all the way through...however when eating it i did taste abit of fish which made me gag, so that was that out of the window for me...not literally we had bars on our windows!! The egg rice was nice as was the chapati though! And the beer was massive and goooooddd :)
The following day we headed to reception and waited for a taxi...the roads are so manic in delhi we didnt dare try and cross them ourselves. This guy said he can get a drive to take us around the main spots for 300 rupees (about 2 quid) so we were happy with that. He took us to tourist info place first (a different one to the following day) and we met a guy that im sure was an extra in shawn of the dead he looked like he hadnt slept in years. Anyway we were not impressed with his tour prices so walked out... who said me and char are easy??? Went to the other tourist info and the guy who got us our room the night before was really helpful and we booked our trip. Delhi-Puskar, Puskar-Jaipur, Jaipur- Agra then back to delhi for a night. Then fly from delhi to Goa where we will spend 5 nights on the beach in our own private beach hut...looking forward to sunning myself and not covering up!! Then up to mumbai for one night before we fly to BKK. All hotels, pick up and drop offs, flights, trains etc are included so we dont have to worry while we are here!!
Anyway cant believe how much i've written and I havent really told you anything! well now the sightseeing starts, we started off in old delhi which is the very poor part of delhi but it was an experience, got on a cycle rickshaw and was taken through all the markets and backstreets really nice to see the delhi culture. Dunno how the man on the cycle rickshaw wasnt sweating more riding with us though! It was really scary and the guy just kept shouting move....we are chatted up at every possible chance (Never been so attractive to the opposte sex before) haha. Me and char just smile and nod and run away!
Went to humulayans (sorry about the spelling) tomb, had a nice little walk around, its amazing how they have made it and such a long time ago. What else is amazing is that indian people seem to think its the in thing to dye their hair ginger...now don't get me wrong I have nothing against gingers but seriously they all look ridiculous!! After that we went to the gate of india which was nice but to be honest we were too busy being harrassed i didnt have much time to look around, these women came up to us and put these stickers on us and aske dfor money for orphanage when char gave them 100 rupees they said and more.. we were like you're lucky you've got that...they had more bloody money than us!! and the woman turned to char and said but you're white and small and char said you're indian and small so what?? i couldn't stop laughing as we walked away! Then lots of children ran up to us to get us to buy stuff. so i walked quicker.... i turned round to see char being harrassed by at least 7 of them i was wetting myself laughing and trying to take a picture...needless to say char was not impressed when she finally lost them!! We got asked if we wanted hennas...we said no thanks we have real tattoos.......
Went back to Tourist place to be told we would be picked up at 8 the following morning..we got it to half 8 but that was as late as they were willing to go then headed out for some dinner. The guy at info place had told our driver to take us to a restauraunt called alpha spice for dinner, we drove around for no joke at least an hour looking for this place, he obviously couldnt find it and when i tried to tell him to take us to any place he thought i was correcting him and asked directions to any spice!! i was giggling sooo much in the car with char but we could tell the driver was getting annoyed. So we stopped at this vegetarian restaurant where we had mushroom and jalapeno pizza and chips. We struggled to orde rproperly it was a fast food palce but they ended up bringing it over to us probably thinking we will mess it up again otherwise. Got home and i was dying fo chocolate so went to the shop.... Cadburys is made in mumbai here and it is not nice!!! Me and char curled up in bed watching indian tv...also not great and they show the same adverts about 8 times in one break....
Anyway thats all from Delhi, In Pushkar at moment so will update from here next time i get a chance....cant believe I'm in India i saw a cow and a goat before i saw a dog!!...electricty just went but luckily this was saved before hand nearly had a heart attack!! Miss you all loads love u xxx
