Right hello again firstly the photos (some of them are up on facebook but havent had chance to put them on here yet so this just may be blog site and fb for pics as seems like a lot of effort to put on both.
so much to report and not a lot of time so il write as much as possible as quickly as possible. Left you last in Delhi where we gave our driver a tip of about 600 rupees, which is about 6 quid afterwards we thought maybe we should give more but before we could he turned round saying "very cheap" we both ignored him as it was pretty rude, so when he turned around and asked for 500 each i was not a happy bunny, i started having a go at him sayinga tip is a tip we were told we had paid his wages and for his accomodation and food so we didnt need to give him anything....cheeky b***** he was lucky he got that and after his comments he wasnt getting anymore, char was sat there silent her blood boiling! got to hotel and just ignored him, didnt say bye just went to our room. he was meant to take us to tourist office in 1 hour but we didnt wait around to see if he would turn up. Me and char ventured into Delhi city on our own,.... first of all we were like " who needs a driver we can do this ourselves" then after nearly getting run over 3 times we werent so sure. Haha all part of the experience though so we got on a bike rickshaw who said it would be 20 rupees for the journey we were pleased with that as we didnt wanna go over a 100 when he took us two mins down the road and stopped though we werent too impressed, as we then had to pay him 20 rupees and get an auto rickshaw for 90 to info place. There we got our details for flight and train and our hotel vouchers. They had put me down as patricia Murray and when i tried to explain to the guy he called me Patsy.....well char clung to that and has been calling it me ever since haha!
Went out for dinner (really nice cheap food) then headed back to our hotel ready to get up at half 6 as we were being picked up half7-8 by tour company to get flight... well we were meant to be.. at 8.15 we started to panic so rang them the guy was like maam maam you need to get to airport you can not sit around i was not impressed " we have been waiting for you since bloody half7" (im an angry mofo in delhi!) Got another taxi to airport and char told him to step on it....now that was a scary journey my knuckles were white by the end.... got there and told the gate had closed and we ahd missed our flight! not impressed but hey thats part of travelling isnt it? messing everything up? this guy saw us wanderinga round looking lost so came to help us he took us straight to a desk where a lady helped us and sorted us to get on the plane (luckily our flight was delayed for 40 mins so we got on) :) just werent sitting together but all that mattered was that we were on the flight. I had to hold my own hand on take off...doesnt have the same effect!!
The flight was good and we got off the plane in mumbai (where we were changing to goa) and we werent sure what we were doing, everyone got on the bus to take them to the airport but me and char saw a few people waiting by side so assumed that was for connecting flights so waited with them...ok so it wasnt and we got n the wrong bus (it was taking people to another plane) but hey they still took us back to arrivals and we werent cramped as we were the only idiots that didnt kno what we were doing.
Got the next flight and got to Goa airport got picked up and taken to hotel really nice drive goa was so much calmer (other than the centre which was chocka) got to our hotel and it was nice, had air con and a fan and massive ceiling all was good. Went down for dinner (so cheap about 70 rupees for a big beer) Met a lovely couple called Kevin and Linda who told us where to go, as they were going down the beach that night for drinks they walked with us and showed us all the good places on the way...they had been coming to Goa for years so knew all the locals. Went to a bar down the beach and sat facing the sea with the stars above us and waves crashing in front of us. we chatted about anything and everything and made a friend ( a dog i named ralph who sat by our chairs all night). Was sucha beautiful place. We did go to the toilet about 8 times that night though the bar man must have thought we had a bladder problem...i knew i should've taken mum up on the offer of tenna lady!
The following day we just chilled it was first lie in we had had for ages so was nice to chill relax watch a film, even ordered scrambled egg on toast with beans (and two pots of tea) for room service. Did all our washing it wa slike a launderette in our place clothes hung everywhere possible. Got an amazing shower and headed to the beach for dinner and drinks. Went to a place called Hi- Tide which Linda and Kevin recommended. Was really nice atmosphere, had drink after drink and amazing bruschetta. Footy was also on which was a bonus (id only said that day to char i miss football) moved on to the vodka which was gong down swimmingly and sat down with Raj who worked there,(we called him Raz all holiday he neever corrected us) he sat with us most of the night and we all had a giggle talking about silly things and things that would never come up in convo with friends at home. Then Kevin came back out to watch the spurs game and sat with us chatting away. The next thing we knew it was half 4, no idea where the time had gone and we were the only ones left in the bar. Got back to apartment about 5am and slept.
Woke up about 11 am and put on the tv big mistake...cinderalla story was on now i cant turn off chad michael murray so we watched that and ordered room service again when i rang up and asked for two pots of tea they said and beans with your scrambled egg? they knew us already. When we came in the other night there was a guy there who we had never seen before and he said room 209... how did he even know that??! random.. picked up a cheap beach towel (haggled..yes get us!) and headed to the beach.. Beach was gorgeous and about 33 degrees. Went back to hotel and was planning to go out but started watching spanglish ( not a great film) and then by time it finished it was 9 and we hadnt even shwoered so we ordered dinner and beer and watched love happens. Thought id get a nice peaceful sleep but nope char was coughing all night (wev both had horrible colds since jaipur-- only we could get colds in blistering heat) and i was sleep talking apparently.
The following day we headed to the beach and stayed all day. It is honestly so beautiful there felt so lucky to be able to see it, no wonder so many people go on honeymoon there. Went to Hi- tide in the evening after 2 hours writing our blogs and stayed with Raj and couple of the other bar guys drinking to all hours. Met a group of guys from mumbai, we had to move on to the beach as it was getting abit loud in the bar (them not us) we chatted to them and drank more and again got ina round 5am. That night was awesome had all songs we listen to in turkey on and it felt like a mini holiday. The following morning i did set my alarm (however for english time so it didnt quite work) anyway headed for german bakery (a recommendation from linda and kevin) and had a nice brekkie there. At the beach we watched a family set up these poles about 2-3 metres high and made there 4-5 year walk across it, In england that would never happen...its ridiculous sometimes....the value of life is so insignificant its all about money.
On the beach there are lots of sellers women about 14- 15 years old, trying to sell jewellery or henna tattoos, they are so much effort to talk to...the first couple you talk to are fine but when they come one after another its so much effort, in end i was quite rude and put me hat over my head and ignored them char kept making eye contact though so spoke to them everytime. i was sat there giggling. They always asked the same questions, Hello where are you from? what is your name? are you sisters or friends? you look like sisters? where are you staying? you arrive yesterday? you have very pale skin, i like it i hate dark skin etc etc (something about india is in the same way as at home we have fake tan adverts they have whitening adverts no one lieks dark skin over here the see it as a sign of not getting in to heaven) it is crazy how they think. I told char we should just make a recording to play to them every time.... we are jenni and charlene we are from england we are friends not sister no matter how much you may think we look like sisters... we got here a couple of days ago, we are pale as we are from england and we want a tan... we are staying at palomeum beach and no we are not interested in any of your crap! if you just say no they say maybe later...to them that means yes later i will buy your crap please come back and hassle me then.Char kept thinking of different words for maybe...depends was my fave everytime she said it i lay there giggling (with my hat over my head of course).
Our last night in Goa and we got to Hi-tide for half7-8 was so busy as was music on. We ended up sitting on these mats on this table shared with 4-6 others. It was really nice though to be honest that night was how i expected India to be. It was like open mic and everyone seemed to be talented...well minus me and char who were good at drinking thats about it. We saw everything from harmonica to the drums and lots of singing. One hippy lady who was off her face was dancing like a mad lady and a guy so drunk he kept stumbling everywhere was very funny to watch. This irish lady got up and sand johnny be good (reminded me of Leman and work lot) then Zombie (Obe reminded us of you mich) and then my all time favourite song....wait for it.... about her clitoris ( mum you may wanna not tell grandma these bits) I think the lyrics went,,,,it brings me bliss my clitoris. She was a bit of a strange one! Linda and kevin joined us for a drink and Linda explained how she had sang a song the week before about English b******s... stupid woman! Had great evening though. There was a really stunning girl tehre looked like pocohontas (just around the river bend...em i know your missing my singing/usher aint got nothing on my disney songs) anyway it turned out to be a guy...were we in thailand already?? Sat up all night again with Raj and Abi ( one of the guys from mumbai) wanted to watch spurs game but didnt have the right channel so ended up watching bham newcastle...not quite the same effect.
The following day we woke up about 10 and packed our stuff, went to hi tide for lunch and sat around there befor eit was time to go, Kevin and linda treated us to a beer we were not looking forward to the 16 hour train journey ahead of us. Raj kept telling us we were going to miss our train and have to stay in Goa for longer we just told him to shutup. Anyway said our goodbyes and after abit of haggling with taxi driver got in this rickety old van ....after half an hour of driving...we break down...BRILLIANT! I have had an amazing two weeks so far but some bad luck so far my shoes have broken, two dresses, my camera, my apad, my phone plays up...my lttle rucksack...bad times hopefully thats the bad over. Anyway so wer stuck on the side of the road and the van starts smoking.... me and char panic abit and get out...char more worried about her clothes than her actual safety. I have a ciggie at side of road (our train would leave in 40 mins time and we were 45 mins away from station) This bus of what only could be workers pulle dup behind us and about 10-15 got out they were all staring at me and char..one guy came over to ask for a cigarrette i said he can have one but that is all, he nodded and smiled when i gave it to him i loked up and about 20 of them had queued up behind smilng a tme and showing me one on their finger. we couldnt stop giggling and told them where to go. Then the bus started to drive off so they all jumped on and left, the guy with the fag looking very proud of himself indeed. Got another taxi to train station and again the train was delayed from 6pm-7.15 so we were lucky again...
At the train station we got a bit lost i kept asking but didnt get much help we were being stared at everywhere we went. one man was makling us so angry as he kept changing location around us, it was like wheres wally, one minute he was by the pole, then by the track, then by the office. Not impressed he was proper creepy. Met this couple from liverpool who helped us find our coach and platform. We had been upgraded to first classs....ooohhhh get us.... haha i really dont know what i just pressed then but i cant seem to change the size back...such a plonker!
Heyyyy its back...Anyway got on the train it was like a little cubicle with bunk bed me and char were on the top...not easy to get up and nice indian couple on bottom who were really sweet and kept offering us food etc. Read our books then everyone started to go to sleep. so i thought right sleep.... as i turned off my light i came to the decision that unfortunatly there was no way i was going to sleep until i had been for a wee. So i climbed off the bed and headed for the loo...ok so the first hole in the floor i had to use...Probably wasnt necessary to get completely naked to use it but i didnt know how these things worked and didnt want to get my colthes wet...should probably have locked the door though...luckily it was late so no one came in. Now give me an elephant a sari and a sequin on my head beacuse now i have used one of those i am officially an indian!!!! Went to sleep and had better sleep than in some of the hotels and luckily turned out ot be an express train so the couple woke us about 8 am to tell us we were in mumbai.
Waited for our pick up but it didnt come so got taxi to hotel (tourism place said they would pay when we got there) drove around for 3 hours then found place apparently no reservation so went elsewhere. we had to pay for taxi ( not cool) and luckily the tour place paid in time for this hotel before we got charged. We were getting our flight that night to Thailand (I was very excited about being reunited with Brad again) .....Next time i write it will all be about Bangkok...and its awesome here... Cheerio Guys love ya (p.s sorry for the awful mistakes here we are in abit of a rush)
