Sunday 25th September
We are now entering NSW and have driven over 10,000km so far.
We stayed the last three nights at Girraween National Park QLD. Lots of walks and lots of wildlife - birds, 'roos, possums and lizards.
On our first day all of us did the Underground Stream and Dr Robert's Waterhole walks followed by a ranger-guided Granite Arch walk (see photo album) which focused on the rare flora of the region.
Day two saw Austen and Tim heading for The Pyramid and me for The Junction. I added 3 birds to my list - a Yellow Tufted Honeyeater, a White throated Tree Creeper and the Eastern Rosella. After lunch Austen headed for Castle Rock and Tim and I went bower hunting. We found two bowers, and an avid birder.
Tim and I also found this beaut spider, which perfectly mimics the local ants!
Prior to Girraween we had 2 nights at Lamington near O'Reilly's. Fewer birds than in '94; but Tim had a lovely group of kids to play with.
Now heading for the Warrumbungles!
