Just a quick post to say we're back in phone range. Currently descending through the clouds coming down from Ravenshoe. We've had a quick taste of rainforest at Hypippamee Nat. Park on the way. Spent the last 2 nights at Undara. As you can see, our campsite company just keeps getting bigger. I'll post our rat photo from Julia Creek once we make camp tonight...

30th August - On the road again … We camped last night 60km short of the Queensland border, at the Avon Downs Police Station 24 hr rest area. Another of those seemingly endless nights. The thermals have been packed away - at the stage of it being too hot in the sleeping bag and not quite warm enough on top of it. Stopped last night at Karlwekarlwe - aka The Devil's Marbles. Very different landscape here - passing through bushfires - assume indigenous 'caring for country' as fires seem to be of no concern. (15 minutes later - I take that back - just passed a fire 4WD heading back the way we just came!). Many termite mounds, different tree species. We added Spinifex Pigeons to our trip list, as well as Black-breasted Buzzards. Also the magpies have changed to the black-b...
