Stopped last night at Karlwekarlwe - aka The Devil's Marbles. Very different landscape here - passing through bushfires - assume indigenous 'caring for country' as fires seem to be of no concern. (15 minutes later - I take that back - just passed a fire 4WD heading back the way we just came!). Many termite mounds, different tree species.
We added Spinifex Pigeons to our trip list, as well as Black-breasted Buzzards. Also the magpies have changed to the black-backed ones.
We had a dingo in our campsite last night - very laid-back - just hoping someone might feed it but not in the least intrusive.
Spent yesterday driving from Alice, after a lazy slow start. Bought myself 'The Songlines' to read - recommended by ranger at Uluru.
Saturday in Alice was spent doing washing and re-stocking food supplies.
Finding some interesting Yoga for Tenters poses. Might write a book! There's the Mattress Squash - sort of a Downward Dog but on the knees as you squeeze all the air from the mattress as you roll it. Another favourite is the Toast Squat - a semi-meditative pose held for about four minutes whilst peering under the gas toaster to get that perfect brown tinge to your toast. My first attempt at getting vertical in the morning is also probably quite amusing to watch - certainly not a graceful manouvre, especially if it is being performed at desperate speed!

Dad Interesting Devil's Marbles photo. I have just returned from the dentist. Unfortunately a lot of expensive work is needed. Not immediately however. No appaointment is available until next year! We have just had Kirsty, Campbelll and Tyler to morning tea. They are moving to Adelaide in a few weeks. Trent has been appointed national manager. I think he hopes to convence them that he can do the job from Perth! They are not selling up yet! Lachlan went to his school ball last Thursday. A photo was supposed to be on the web, but I haven't managed to find it! I have only just noticed the "Add comment" button below on the screen. I don't think I clicked it for previous comments!!! Will look forwardd to your next blog. With love, Dad
Fiona I read songlines years ago but I think I missed the point of it. Good shot of the marbles - have not seen them before. Ive got my senior first aid course tomorrow with St Johns. This enables me to go onto drilling sites. Still applying for jobs.
Heather Fantastic photo. Like your yoga positions. I had forgotten about the sunrise wakes when camping. I remember we had galah alarm clocks on the Gibb River Rd. Trip sounds fantastic. We have two more 'pets'...King parrots. They have only visited once but they already have names: Joe and Mandy. So is Dad sending coffe beans to post offices ahead for you ? :) I am finally using Stephen super duper machine and the shots are pretty good. It is book week for us here. Ellen made an Indian girl costume from her favourite book at the moment..Indian in the Cupboard. Bridget is Snow White. Parents can dress up too and the girls have chosen a costume for me. I said I didn't want to be the only parent dressed up to which Ellen replied, " Mum, you shouldn't worry what other people think of you !".
Lesley Beautiful photo :D I love the new yoga moves! lol
Tina Hi Jill, Natalie gave me your blog to read, what a wonderful trip you are taking, reminds me of our 5 week camping trip from Perth to Qld and back through Mt.Isa and down through Alice. It was over Xmas hold and so very hot and lots of rain. I will enjoy reading of your travels . Take care and have a ball. Tina Edwards
Fiona Well I passed my first aid and Phil will be pleased to hear St Johns course is much better than the opposition at least in my opinion. They even give you an inflatable dummy to take home and practice on. My neighbours cats on each side are having a teritorial war and killing my honey eaters. I am thinking of getting a small dog or 2 to keep them out of the garden.
