Today we woke up considering not going into San Francisco at all as we were staying at the same hotel again tonight but we had paid $29 for the cruise so we went. The tour guide said that it was going to be a busy day so it was a bit worrying as we still hadn't caught up on sleep since Vegas.
We stopped at some stupid places that we had never heard of so we were regretting our decision to come but after an hour or so we stopped at the golden gate bridge and it was worth it, the tour guide said that she had never seen the bridge so clearly as it is usually covered by fog, but again we had a beautiful day with clear skies and got some great photos.
After the mandatory stop at the gift shop for a postcard we headed off to the cruise that we had paid for it was down at fishermans wharf. We cruised up to and under the golden gate bridge and saw lots of seals and dolphins on the way which was cool. Then we headed for Alcatraz island and sailed around it a couple of times and there was a VoiceOver talking about the history of the island, and as we are English we practically had the deck to ourselves because it was to cold for everyone else, the cruise was really good, when we got off we headed to go an see the seals on pier 39 was ok but they stunk, great time to go get lunch, Becky really wanted to try clam chowda which comes in a sourdough bowl she got that and again I had a burger, but it was served out of a campervan so it's ok. We had some ice-cream for pudding and had a walk around the shops. Next was lombard street, the worlds most crooked street and we were told as the rest of the group were going on the city tour (to a couple of cathedrals woohoo) we would have 3 hours to ourselves which is the way we prefer it. So as everyone else had to run up and down this hugely steep street in 30mins we could stroll up and look at the sights. Once at the top there was a tram stop so we looked at the map and it went in the direction we wanted, so we hopped on it was one of those really old trams that you always see in San Francisco, I even hung onto the outside going down these really steep streets while Becky stayed safe inside (don't worry everyone I'm looking after her). It was really good and you got to see more of San Francisco that way.
Once we got off the tram we still had 2 hours so in keeping with the trip so far we headed to a pub and got some San Francisco ale and it was alright aswell.
We then had a walk to the rendezvous point to meet the bus and on the way we saw so many crazy people as I think in California marijuana is legal, we waited a bit for the bus and hopped on once it arrived.
The next stop was pointless we stopped at Stanford uni we just sat on the grass and watched these geeks playing extreme frisbee. Dinner next and we went to get a Chinese it was huge and cheap just the way we like it. We got some beers and went back to the hotel and watched Anchorman and drank them nice relaxing night and went to bed early as we were leaving the hotel at 5am yes that's right 0500 not good, bring on New Zealand When we can get up when we want.
