Another day in saint tropez where the young women are tall and stunning, and the old women think they are tall and stunning but look like silicone enhanced sultanas. When I discover a cure for ageing, this place will be my first point of call.
Went to the Tuesday market in the town square which was part Provence fruit / cheeses/ cured meats, part french antiques and genuine 1940's french prints and part chinese touristy crap. But that's why the new rich here are not Russians anymore, it's now the Chinese. And if anybody knows who has the money, it's st tropez locals.....
We went to the famous pamplonne beach for a few hours (the mornington peninsula has better beaches, I am pleased to announce)
We finished off with a short boat cruise and was interested to see that the most impressive houses belonged to Boris Yeltsin s daughter, the heineken beer mogul and the guy who invented the automatic car wash......
We also saw some incredible 60 metre cruisers in the harbor. Apparently the Russians buy them and rent them out for 250,000-300,000 euro per week, they cost 2,500 euro a day to dock in the harbor and to fill it up with fuel , a cool 60,000 euro (an Aussie dollar buys 75 euro cents). The mind boggles.
