Tuesday we left our hostel in LA bright and early to travel right across town to the Greyhound bus station! After a bit of research we realised that it was gonna take us about an hour to travel there and we needed to arrive an hour before our bus to pick up the tickets!! So giving ourselves a bit of extra time due to travelling across LA at rush hour we start walking to the Metro train station at 7:30am, thankfully it is less than a 10 minute walk because our backpacks are HEAVY!
As we arrived at the station we didn't think too much about the firemen running down the stairs next to us and proceeded to the ticket machine to buy the first tickets for our journey across! When we got down onto the platform there was one train on the left that goes in the opposite direction, and lots of people waiting on the right for the train that we needed!
Very quickly it became apparent that the train on the left wasn't going to be going anywhere for some time and neither were we due to the fact that someone was underneath the train!!!
Slowly but surely we were directed further and further up the platform so they could try and free the jumper, and then finally out of the station as all the trains had been stopped! By this time the whole block had been closed off, Police and Firemen were everywhere and even the media had arrived, both on the ground and in the sky!!
Due to the road closure no buses were able to make it to where we were and so we finally had to concede to walking back to the hostel to call a shuttle or taxi! Half way back we found a cab parked up with the driver enjoying his breakfast who kindly took $30 off of us to drive us to our destination! So as it turns out we ended up being two hours early for our bus!
Sitting in the waiting area with Ollie getting infuriated at the cost of a bottle of water (they add tax at the till!!) we finally made our way onto the bus and our 6 hour journey to Las Vegas!
After checking into our hotel, the Wild Wild West, we headed straight to the strip to get food and see some of the sights! Little did we know a storm was brewing and as we walked home the heavens opened! We managed to find shelter under a bridge and wait out the worst of it and then headed wearily to our bed, just a little bit damp!
Wednesday we walked the whole of The Strip as if it would all disappear the following day! Six hours we were walking for and we didn't even see it all! With feet aching we found as many of the free hotel connecting trams as possible to take us back in the direction of our hotel, finally arriving outside the Monte Carlo with just a 15 min walk from there left to do! And yet again the heavens opened! Again finding shelter under the bridge we soon realised that the rain was not going to be easing! With the thunder and lightning increasing we decide that we are just gonna have to get wet! But we got soaked!!!!
After the rain, Thursday brought a beautifully sunny day and a day at the pool for us! A great skype catch up and some research on our next destinations managed to fill our day! The destination of choice for dinner was Hooters!! Ollie was of course not looking forward to going!!
Friday we had to move to another hotel which had cheaper weekend rates, but which meant a 45 minute walk with our backpacks! (not good on sunburnt shoulders!!) We grabbed a huge lunch and proceeded to fall asleep for the rest of the afternoon! Once fully revived we headed back to The Strip to take in the free entertainment, the highlight of which by far is the water fountain display outside the Bellagio! It really was amazing! After which we headed back to our local bar and spent a hilarious evening watching the karaoke and drinking the micro-brewery beer!

Tony Hooter was great, we took Chris there for food on his stag night, all good except $7 for a beer...;0) Get you photo's done at the 'Welcome to Las Vegas' sign, well worth going, plus there a huge outlet store, if you can fit any Levi's in your backpacks! x
