We may have left home a couple of days ago but today actually feels like we are starting our Cross Canada trip. This afternoon we took the Kettle Valley Steam Train for a 2 hour run on the original train tracks from the 1800's pulled by a steam locomotive from the same era. Local volunteers dressed in period including the "local sheriff" to protect us from possible robbers. The experience was great. We were in the last car which was a converted cattle car so we had an amazing view of a number of wineries, the rocky arid terrain and they stop the cars in the middle of one of the restored trestle bridges. From there we return to the station where we are "held up" by 6 or more bandits on horseback all firing guns (blanks of course) galloping up and down the tracks. Our sheriff wasn't much help! All in all a fun time and all monies collected are given to local charities. When it was all over we all enjoyed a outdoor BBQ (including our robbers). Definitely worth experiencing.
