We woke in the morning after a decent nights sleep. We had decided to go to Santiago today as Vin del Mar didn't look that nice to visit and if we moved fast we could maybe get to Buenos Aires for the weekend.
After getting ready, Shivani cut the fruit we had bought yesterday and made some coffee and we had breakfast in our little kitchen. After packing our bags we researched a couple of hostals in Santiago before taking a taxi to the bus station. On arriving we found a bus leaving in 10 minutes so quickly bought a ticket and jumped on board.
The bus quickly left and we headed through the grape filled country side to Santiago. It was only a couple of hours away and we quickly arrived.
At the bus station Shivani checked for buses to Mendoza, they were plentiful so we decided we could just come and take one as we needed it. We then jumped in a taxi and went to one of the hostals we had found. It was quite nice although a little expensive but we took it anyway.
After dumping our stuff and getting changed, as it was so hot, we decided to go out and get food as we were starving. Shivani found a place on trip advisor that did Mexican and American food and was highly rated. It was a little far away so we got the metro there. After an short ride and some expert map reading by Shivani we found the place. It was in a nice neighbourhood that seemed modern. The place was full of gringos watching American football. It was nice outside so we sat and had some drinks and food. We sat for quite a while and planned our next moves. The place was very busy and it seemed like this was a popular sports bar.
After eating so much we thought it would be a good idea to walk back. The walk was quite a long one and we went through a nice park. Santiago was modern, with a lot of chains but maybe lacked a little atmosphere and character. On our way back the neighbourhoods got slightly worse as we walked, although we did stumble across a nice bit which had people selling things in the street and seemed quite relaxed.
It was dark by the time we got back and after Shivani sorted out her washing, that the guy had done badly, we booked a place in Mendoza before heading to bed. We had a walking tour to go to in the morning that would hopefully give us an overview of Santiago.
