We woke up quite late, it was nice to have nothing to do, and we had both been tired from the previous exertions.
We lay in bed for a while while we decided what to do. We had to decide our next stop and as flying to Santiago wasn't going to work, we had to look where to stop in between or face a 22 hour bus journey.
I got up and went to use the internet to look at options. I decided that La Serena would be best, as there was the Elqui valley with observatories, pisco and Damas Island with penguins and seals to visit.
While I waited for Shivani to get ready I talked to the American guy, Andrew who had been my translator yesterday. He was a nice guy and had been travelling for 7 months, mainly working on a volunteer project.
After Shivani was ready we walked to town and booked a bus ticket. There were a few options but they were all as bad as each other but we had to suck it up and book it anyway. We hoped that the 17 hour journey would be okay.
After that we went for some lunch. I had a huge empanada and Shivani had a mushroom al pil pil and some vegis. They also gave us some bread and green chutney which Shivani really liked. After lunch we decided to head back to the hostal. We bumped into Yash and Heidi who were doing a tour of the moon valley.
When we got back to the room Shivani read her book, I was feeling a little tired so lay down. I ended up going to sleep and Shivani slept with me. When I woke up it was 8.30pm. Shivani just wanted to sleep through. I wrote my blog for a little bit but went back to sleep too. We both slept through the night and I couldn't believe we were sleeping so much!!
