My friend, Emiko, is wanting to do more hiking this summer. I'm more than happy to help her in this pursuit! We set up an event on Facebook with some of our friends and called it the "Epic Hike." However, it's still a little too early for a lot of the more extreme hikes, and we thought it might be best to take it a little easier. We also had some time constraints with a few of the people who wanted to come.
We chose the Burning Bear Trail, East Entry (TR 601), since it was a little closer and not too much of a climb. The trail is a through trail about 5.5 miles long, but we only brought one car. We hiked up to the cabin and back for a total of 4.8 miles. The trail climbs gradually up to a ridge. We stopped for snacks at the cabin before returning the way we came. We did make the hike a bit more epic by galloping through the shire on our steeds, avoiding Ring Wraiths of course!
A word of warning: there are no gas stations in Grant, however there seem to be lots of barbeque places. There is also a jerky truck if you need some snacks on the way in. Also keep an eye out for the wooly longhorn cattle on the right on the drive in. You can also stop for a Burning Bear tatoo if you feel so inclined. Our hike was bearless so we opted out of that one! It's good to be out hiking again with friends. It makes it so much more fun. For our next hike I think we will head to Maxwell Falls.
