Bus at 8 to Bern, only a quick one today and arrived at 9 30. couldn't get into hotel room as roommate still asleep so went for a walk into the town. Was a Sunday so aware that nothing would be open. Place was so quiet! A few tourists in the main areas but saw very few people. The main place open was the train station so went to the tourist office to find out if there was much to do, apparently not! Town very beautiful tho, another UNESCO site. Main road was being dug up tho so that spoilt it a little. Went back to the hostel after getting some lunch at the station via the bear pits. Really sad to see, 4 bears in a pit with nothing to do apart from tricks for food. Checked into my room and have never seen anything like it. Was a 6 bed dorm but the room was divided by into cabins of a bunk bed and cupboard in each. A lovely shade of green as well. Was on the top bunk and had a long climb as very high. Met my room mate, Cameron and had a chat. Felt quite sleepy so continued with the Hobbit til passed out. Woke about 6 and went for dinner. Went to first restaurant I found, apparently I'm silly for thinking the kitchen would be open past 6 on a Sunday night! Cooked me a pizza anyway and I celebrated my first meal in a proper restaurant alone, so growed up now. Went back to the hotel as the town was dead and returned to my book. Cameron and Neil came back and we sat chatting for a while. Went to investigate the kitchen and found a tv, in english! Also met Alicia who was in there watching tv. Spent a while watching 'escape to the country'. A very good programme when you've not seen tv in a while. Went to bed about 11.
