Once again - excuse the photo, I'm actually nowhere near any beach - I'm in the mountains!! (Photo is now one of mine - sorry about the sideways action! - mjk) Sorry about the last postcard, ran out of internet time which will probably happen again this time!! Am in a small ski village called Telluride - very cute and nestled in a valley between some snow capped mountains! We have scored this lush house to stay in for the night, its huge and tvs in most rooms and a jacuzzi out the back! Ok quick run down on where we've been since San Fran - Stayed at Yosemite NP and did a huge hike in rain and then it snowed half way up - we got absolutely drenched and spent the rest of the day thawing out in front of the open fire in the main lodge. Problem was our accomodation was what I'd like to call cabents - part cabin, mostly a big unheated tent! It was bloody freezing! Great scenery though which helped. After two nights there we had a very long day of driving and stayed at Las Vegas for a night (supposed to camp in a nearby NP but too cold) so cruised down Las Vegas Boulevard where all the casinos are - what a tacky place but cool all the same! Our next stop was Zion NP where we camped and did a huge hike/rock climb to 'Angel's Landing' - was bloody hard work and scary at times as it was pretty much climbing up a cliff face with only chains to help - but the view was awesome! The next day we travelled to Bryce Canyon and hiked down and then up the canyon and all I can say is wow!! The weather brightened up just enough for our hike - we were pretty lucky as it snowed the next morning. We had heated cabins for the night which was lush - best night's sleep in about a week. From Bryce we drove through Arches NP where we did some hikes to some of the arches and then sent up camp in Moab, a nearby town. Yesterday we hiked to some more arches and then in the evening we went on a hummer ride over a very steep and rocky trail - awesome fun, I videoed (if that's even a word!) it so hopefully it'll show how steep some of the climbs we were doing in the vehicle! That is the short version! Hope to put some piccies on soonish but probably not for a week or so. (photos now updated - mjk) Having a ball on the trip even though the weather has been chilly, having lots of fun, drinking lots of beer, getting plenty of exercise but not much rest and learning lots of new drinking games!!
