We woke up this morning and had to get ready to go to the breakfast run. It is a morning run the marathon puts on so that the runners can get to know each other and have a good time. I was not in good form. Due to my drinking the night before I was hung over and not a happy camper. Then to top that off we had to walk 10 miles to get to our 3 mile breakfast run. Ok ok ok it was not 10 miles but when you are hung over and so thirsty you could drink the ocean, it sure feels like 10 miles. This was the first time I got to meet Billy. And the poor guy had to deal with me hungover and in a bad mood. I'm surprised he didn't kill me. But he did keep my laughing the whole way so it wasn't all that bad.
The breakfast run was great. I took it easy because I didn't want to bother my knee anymore that it was. They had flag girls running with with a flag from every country that had runner representing. After we finished we went into this amazing club area where they gave us a t-shirt, breakfast in a bag and a live Irish band playing for us. It is a tradition to bring a t-shirt from a marathon in your home city and trade. I got a really nice long-sleeved from Dallas, Tx. We got to hang out with our team and get to know each other better. They also had Irish dancer for us which was amazing. My run coach got pulled ones stage to dance.
After the breakfast run Tori and I headed back to our hotel and we got to know each other more. She is a great person and we have so much in common. When we got to the hotel we met up with another group and went to go to the expo. An expo is something they have before every marathon where the runners go pick up their bib numbers and all the marathons sponsors are there. Also all the up and coming running gear has booths there so it is a really cool event. When we walked in my group got quiet. I think because it hit us that there was no turning back. Tomorrow we were running a marathon....all 26.2 miles. We picked up our bibs and walked around for a bit. The logo for this marathon is Impossible is Nothing. How true is that, nothing could capture my mood more than that one line did. 5 months ago all of this was impossible and now it was here and it was happening and I was so proud of my team and of myself.
They had a wall there with the saying on and it was signed by last years runners. As we where walking out Tori and I signed this years wall, the one that will be there at next years marathon, and in a way Tori and I will be there too. How cool is that?!?!?!?!
We headed back to our hotel and got ready for the pasta party. I met up with my parents for the first time and it was so happy to have my mom there and to be part of this. To meet the people she has heard so much about and the cause that has consumed her daughters life. On the way down to the pasta party all the TNT coaches line up dressed all funky in TNT colors and make tons of noise for us. It was too funny, they have always been our cheerleaders and now they really were. The food was great, I love that carbs are a runners best friends. lol During the dinner we got to hang out and listen to speakers talk about their battles with blood cancers and some runners giving us marathon running advice. Afterwards Billy and I had a massage in my room, god bless Rose, she saved my legs.
After everyone got ready Tori, Me The Jared's and Billy ended up in my room and we laughed until our stomachs hurt and our eyes watered. It defiantly helped me not think about the marathon and kept my nervous in check. Some of those jokes I will remember forever, it was truly a fun night. Beamer 3000....
Tori and I got everything ready for the race. Had small panic attacks about it and hopped into bed and talked for a few hours before we gave up and drifted into dream land. I slept like a baby until our alarm went off on MARATHON MORNING!
