When we woke up we headed to reception to ask how much a taxi would cost to the pier but ended up just booking our boat to Koh Tao with the woman in the hotel which cost us 680TB which is a lot more than we were expecting to pay considering it cost us 950 from Koh lanta through mainland and on a boat to koh phangan. The only available boat was at 17:00 with a pick up from our hotel at 15:00 which meant a lot of waiting around.
We chilled on the swing tied to a bog tree on the beach and then on the loungers before going to the restaurant for two rounds of toast and jam. The hotel was practically empty now compared to how busy it was a few days ago, i guess everyone comes here for full moon and then all leave soon as. We chilled in the restaurant for a while taking advantage of the high speed internet and generally doing nothing until our taxi arrived at 15:00. We said goodbye to wee we the husky and the three legged dog as we climbed into the back of the 4x4. The driver himself was shocked at how early our pick up was considering the boat is at 17:30.
When we got to the pier we checked in at the office and then went for a walk as we had two hours to kill. We walked into town and into a pharmacy where i asked for penicillin. The pharmacist looked at the wound and pulled a face before reaching into different boxes for medication. She gave me two lots of antibiotics and some other pills to stop the swelling and i asked for some waterproof plasters as well. When she told me how much it was i could have fainted. 1,060TB! That's just over £20 for three sheets of pills and plasters, i miss the NHS. i paid her the money as i really needed the meds as it really hurts and is always seeping and then we went into a book shop for daniel to trade in his old reads for a new one, he decided on the game of thrones. We popped into 7/eleven on the way back to the pier where i got a toastie and a drink and then headed to sit in the waiting room.
We headed over to where the boat would dock and joined a load of other tourists with their backpacks, there were a group of English boys who were pissed off their faces and quite a few of the people waiting had scratches and bandages as well as burn marks, they must have got caught in the skipping rope of fire at full moon party, i have no sympathy. The high speed catamaran arrived and we all lined up and got on one by one to make our way to Koh Tao. The journey took around 1.2 hours and when we arrived it was dark. We were bombarded with people on the pier asking if we wanted a taxi and so we asked him to take us to the sairee beach area and picked a hostel called simple life to head for. When we went in and enquired about a room at reception, she only had a deluxe superior double room left which would cost 2,600TB a night so we left and headed to anothher hotel. We walked down a road and came accross "Asia Divers" resort as we knew they would have a pool.
They ask for 700 a night which was reasonable so we were shown to our room, fan this time which sucks but air con was too expensive. We set our stuff down in the room before heading out to the town which is just right next to is to find somewhere to eat. There were lots of people about considering it's low season and all the restaurants were full of diners. The menus are all reasonably priced with great options.
We turned down a small side street and into an italian place as we both fancied pasta. The restaurant looked really upmarket but the menu was decent. Dan went for spaghetti bolognase and i went for tagliatelle al salmone with smoked salmon, cream and tomato sauce, yum! It came out really quickly, suspiciously quickly but it tasted like heaven. Daniel had a bit and wished he got the same as me but when he reads "cream" he instantly thinks he won't like it. The pasta tasted so fresh and soft and just perfect i struggled to finish it though. Around us were groups of people sipping on wine and cocktails, they're lucky they can afford it!
After dinner, we walked back through the side road picking up a leaflet for the castle party tomorrow and a lady boy cabaret show which Sara recommended seeing. We popped into 7/eleven for some snacks and made our way back to the hotel where we smoked and watched some random film on the tv as well as some documentary about terrorists on the national geographic channel. We got pretty hungry at around 01:00 so decided to walk down to 7/eleven where i bought a ham and cheese toastie as well as crisps and hersheys chocolate. I took the ham out the toastie as 1: i can't bite it and 2: it's not that nice.
