Day four:
When i woke up Dan said he's planned to go to the waterfall on the other island so i decided to have a day by myself on the beach with a beer. We went across the road for breakfast, i ordered shakshuka which i'd been meaning to try, it was tasty but got a bit boring after a while and i couldn't eat it all. Dan went off to the other island while i chilled in the hammock watching the river. I bought a beer from across the road and was ready for a relaxing day by myself. Dan returned 30 minutes after he left saying the bridge was closed- bulls***, he later confessed it was just too far to walk. He went to buy another happy bag and we smoked and had some beerlao before going to adams bar to try and take out money.
Before we left i was feeling quite light headed and faint so dan escorted me to and from the toilet before we slowly began walking towards Adams bar. We decided to go through the main bit as there was nothing showing on the TV and sat by the river. It was only us and one other girl out the back but it was nice and peaceful. We ordered the same as last night- tuna toastie, tuma baguette and chips. I wanted to order an ice cream float shake but they had a power cut and couldn't use the blender so i settled with a can of pop.
Once we finished our food we went out front to try to take cash out, i wanted to take out 600,000 but when the guy was trying to put through the transaction it wouldn't connect, probably because of the power cut earlier so i said i would come back and try again later that night. We were going to go to the beach but i kept having dizzy spells so didn't make it. We got a cornetto instead and as i was paying for it i had to excuse myself from the shop and lay flat on my back outside, it was awful, it must have been the concoction of bud and beer in my system. We left to go back to the bungalow to chill and smoke while working out how much money we had. I thought that the 100,000 note in my money belt was 1,000000- my bad, biggest mistake ever. I didn't have enough for a bus ticket to Siem Reap let alone for my Cambodian visa! This is when panic settled in, especially if i couldn't take cash out tonight i thought i would be stranded on Don Det!
Dan and I got out all of our currencies and counted it. Dan had enough dollars to pay for my bus ticket as he would exchange kip into dollars as well. I had $13 left from what my mum gave me so i would put that towards the visa too. We managed to scrape through with the money so we left the bungalow to book our ticket. Dan said it would be better to go to Kraitie instead of Siem Reap as the journey can sometimes take up to 20 hours! Plus, in kraitie we would be able to see the Irrawaddy dolphins which are nearly extinct. The only catch was that it changed the whole route and there would be no chance of spending my 22nd birthday on the beautiful beach of Koh Rong so we plan to book a nice hotel for the 5th and 6th to make up for the location.
We booked our tickets for the next morning to kraitie and Dan changed his kip into dollars then we headed back to Adams bar for dinner, i only hoped the same boy who served us earlier on wasn't working; he was. As dan sat down i walked down the road to a place called Eden Guesthouse because in he lonelyplanet book it states that they can give you cash back and after i walked to the reception the woman just said "no money no money"- i was stuffed as Adams bar card machines still weren't working. When i got back to Dan he had ordered me a coconut and blueberry float shake as a surprise which was yummy. I went up to order with the blondie, we both ordered exactly the same thing we've been having for the last two days so i made sure i gave the order to the blondie and not the curly who served us earlier on. The film that was playing was one of those odd, artistic and gory films, like brief encounter and was directed by Quintin Tarantino. After debating, Dan decided to not get moaning of life put onto his ipad for whatever reason so we headed back so we could pack together our things as we had to get to the beach to catch our boat at 08:00.
