Day 2:
When we woke up we decided we wanted a chilled day at the beach so we had a wake n bake on the terrace while watching the boats travel up and down, one filled with just kids paddling themselves down the river. We left to get breakfast at the 4,000 islands bar and restaurant. We sat on a small extended area in the sun overlooking the river, it was sooo hot! Ordered a full english breakfast which came with coffee. We lay down in the sun while we waited for our food and when it came i was blown away. There were two perfectly fried eggs: still runny but not slimey, baked beans, a baguette with slices in it filled with smoky bacon and tomato and cucumber. It was honestly so delicious so it didn't take us long to wolf it down. This restaurant was one of those places i could easily spend the whole day in and they played so many good songs i wish i knew what they were called! Like the hippies a few bungalows down from us were playing some arabic dub song and i wish i'd asked them who it was but i guess that ship has sailed. We settled the bill and walked onto the beach where we were greeted by a buffalo just chilling on the sand.
We laid down our towels on the left hand side with the hope that boats with travellers wouldn't stop on that side so they all walk passed us kicking sand. We sunbathed and took dips in the river which wasn't very cold but as always i took my time fully submerging myself in the water. We had to be careful of boats that were pulling in and their propellers. Dan went to the shop to buy us a cornetto type ice cream which went down a treat considering i felt like i was melting. The same weird man from last night was circling the beach taking it in turn to sit with different people and read their books. No one seemed bothered by him at all and seemed to enjoy his company if anything. While sunbathing, i noticed a wierd noise which sounded like it was coming from the sky, but there were no birds around. It was really loud which made me think it could be all the signals for mobiles and the internet darting in the atmosphere, either that or loads of really strange sounding invisible birds. We heard the same noise back at the bungalow too, spooky.
I tried to turn my camera on to take a photo but the lens wouldn't open up, i suppose there was some sand inside stopping it which really annoyed me as i hated when i couldn't use it because of the water damage. We stayed chilling on the beach for a while but wanted to get back to the bungalow before it was dark so we could have a shower with some sort of light. The shower was the perfect temperature, luke warm which was good as i was boiling hot so couldn't handle a hot shower. After we were both squeaky clean from our showers we rolled up and had a pre-dinner joint on the terrace. We were joined by a friendly bobble tail ginger cat who loved attention and being held like a baby. After the smoke, we went off out to find a place for dinner. Dan had a craving for chicken noodle soup and i fancied trying the islands delicase- pumpkin burger. We ended up at the restaurant on the beach front. Every place we walked passed was half empty and i wonder where everyone goes? Probably chilling in their hammocks at their guesthouse. We walked into the restaurant and there were flies all over the shop. Hundreds of them were buzzing about next to lamps and geckos were on every wall so i moved to a place where the wall is far away from me.
It took a while for our drinks to get to us let alone the food. I expected Dan's noodle soup to arrive pronto as its usually the first thing to come out in the restaurants but i received my pumpkin burger and chips before him. Finally it arrived and thank god it tasted good. Service was extremely slow, the same pace as the rest of the country. Usually there are bonfires and parties on the beach but nothing was going down that night so we settled the bill and headed back to the bungalow for a bedtime smoke.
