Day three:
We welcomed the day with a wake n bake while watching the boats pass up and down the river. We enjoyed yesterdays breakfast so much we decided to go back again but we sat inside this time as the sun really was unbearable. We ordered the same breakfast which was yummy, with even more bacon than last time, and bacon makes me very happy; i didn't think i would be able to get any out here. With our stomachs full we headed onto the beach, this time i decided it would be better to set up camp as close to the water as possible because the sand gets soooooo hot that the walk into the river is more like a run with all my jiggly bits flopping around everywhere so we found a nice spot a few steps from the river and sun bathed.
My camera still won't work so i haven't been able to take many pictures of the beach but i made sure Dan got some good ones on his. We were sat by a big group of backpackers; a few germans, yanks and brits. We overheard two of the girls saying they were going to swim to the other side of the river to the island but me and dan knew this would be impossible because the current gets pretty strong the further out you swim. It was a german girl who looked like a mix between lucy watson from MIC and fearne from Towie as well as a woman who sounded like she was from u north. We peered at them as they began swimming, the rest of the group cracking jokes. They were doing prettu well until they drifted out of sight from the current and one of the americans of the group approached a local who had a boat and offered 50,000kip to take him to collect the girls who had been stranded. It was hilarious and i was trying not to explode with laughter. One boy of the group got chatting to me, his name was jack and he's from scarborough. When he said this, all i could think of was the old timers song "scarborough fair" that i was taught in church mead. He invited us to chill with them but we were right next to them so pretty much were already.
It was still very hot but not as hot as yesterday, i am determined to get more tanned; especially on my face as thats the only part that never seems to tan. The boat returned with the two girls inside, as it pulled in the boy who paid to get them was stood at the front in a very regal pose holding his beer, it was like the beginning of pirates of the carribean. I enjoyed overhearing some of the jokes the girls got about the current but they still swam quite far so good on them! After swimming and sunbathing on the beach for hours we went back to shower before it got dark. We overheard about a party on the beach that evening with a bonfire and barbecue so we thought we might come down again later to check it out.
We got back and showered then headed out again to a place called Adams bar which was such a cotch. In the front, was a TV screen showing movies with rows of cushions and tables so people could enjoy a TV dinner. Through the back of the bar was an open chill out space overlooking the river. We decided to chill where the TV was and ordered a drink and skinned up. I was delighted to see cheese toastie on the menu so i ordered that with tuna and chips and Dan went for a tuna baguette and chips. There were two english lads working there, one who looked quite young with curly hair and the other who reminded me of Ben Brown with floppy blonde hair, they were both pretty helpful, if not lazy as they didn't seem like they were working at all. The blondie put on School of Rock for everyone to watch and i began speaking the script along with the actors as its one of my most watched film, it made me feel that little bit closer to home.
When the food came is was everything i expected and more. REAL melted cheese (not laughing cow) generously melted over tuna in a crisp baguette with a healthy portion of what tasted like mckain oven chips- delicious! At the bar they offer a service where they can put films and music onto your ipad for a very small price which is a great idea and we were toying with the idea to put karl pilkinton's moaning of life series on to watch. We could have so easily spent hours in that place smoking and drinking while watching good films but it was getting late so we decided to head back to the bungalow.
