Hi Everyone!! we are in the process of uploading our Beijing Photos, it is very slow, we have to do one picture at a time and each picture takes 3mins min!!! So far we have been sitting here 2hours! Cant believe we used to moan about the internet back home!
So we arrived in Phnom Pen last night after our long coach journey, we went for a meal with our group to a thai resturant (a lot of the group have decided cambodian food needs a litle more spice) some of the group still have dodgy tummys so they ate plain rice yum. Luckily so far our tummys have been fine, very suprising! The food was good in the Thai resturant, Kate had Green Thai curry (quite hot) Mike had Chicken and Basil leaves! We then went on a mission to find a cash point with Bec and Grayham. After a long day we were in need of some sleep, this proved difficult, its very noisy in this hotel, the local people seem to be on the go 24/7, very jelous of there energy!
This morning we woke at 7.30, breakfast is included in this hotel so we were ready to make the most of this, When the woman offered us omlette we were pleased, when it arrived with onions in we were not impressed! So 8.30 we are setting off with our group and tour guide for the day to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and the killing fields. The morning was very disturbing, lots of death. We found out all about Pol Pot and what an evil man he was, and can you believe this all happened only from 1975-1979!! In the killing fields we walked along the paths where the victims clothes were still on the ground buired in the dirt just sticking out, also bones have risen from the deep graves upto the path we walked on, not nice at all!
This afternoon we went for lunch with our group to a resturant that trains young street children the skills needed to run a resturant, and all the profit they make goes to helping the street children in Cambodia, we thought it was lovely!
We then walked along in search of this mountain that our tour guide Nin had recommended we go to see. Eventully we arrive at a small hill which looked man made to find out this was in fact the mountain that Nin was talking about. There was an option to take an elephant ride upto the top, but we decided against this as the elephant looked exhausted and not well looked after :( On the short walk up we came accross a lot of monkeys who were very friendly, you could stroke them! At the top we saw a very strange sight, a small kitten was being mothered by a monkey.
Tonight we are going out for a meal just the twop of us, and then up at 7am for another 4 hour drive to the beach huts!
