I slept very well, Bob less so. I'm going to get a spot-on for her when we pass the next vets to try and stop her scratching. When morning did arrive we vamooshed immediately, leaving the obnoxious kraut's behind, following the lake shore into countryside which could easily have been Rannoch Moor. We passed through the mock highlands, arriving in Wanaka as it was waking up, just in time for breakfast. This bustling lakeside town was a welcome change of pace from the west coast we had become accustomed to. We enjoyed coffee and croissants on the waterfront and planned the next few days with help from the I-site and DOC office. We mimbled round a few shops, had lunch and then checked into our proper campsite allowing a full wash down from the past few days. This was also precipitated by the discovery of an exploded bottle of conditioner in Bob's clothes bag...
I caught up with some busy work followed by a very well timed evening drink in a lakeside bar, making the most of happy hour! Feeling that some exercise was required during our lazy day we went for a short run along the lake discussing the exciting plans for the next few days. Our campsite had an oven so I burned us a pizza, washed down with beer/bundaberg and watched NZ narrowly beat Bangladesh in the Cricket, how jolly civilised.
