We checked out at 9:59 after a fantastic lie in, made all the better for it being overcast and windy! After a leisurely breakfast with wifi Bob gave me a guided tour of Glenorchy, got a mocha to go and we were on our way back to Queenstown.
Bob dropped me at the end of the obligatory queue outside Fergburger and I ordered a 'Dawn Horn' which arrived at the same time as Bob and did not disappoint. Bacon, eggs, hash brown, avocado, beetroot and tarragon Mayo...awesome!
We mimbled around the shops, after putting on a few extra layers, and decided that Queenstown would be a good place to live!
Our afternoon entertainment was the kiwi bird house where we watched genuine live kiwis in special nocturnal houses snuffling for food, chasing each other and generally being hilarious! They were so comical that I couldn't help sniggering in the darkness and got thoroughly shushed as I tried not to find the hairy footballs sprinting around the undergrowth sticking their noses into anything and everything amusing. We toured the rest of the sanctuary highlights being the Tutakaras which were genuine dinosaurs and had a third eye on top of their head.
We held off going up the gondola as the weather was overcast and made our way to Frankton where our motorcamp was everything we required and no more. A quick stirfry supper and book reading before braving what looks set to be our first really cold night...
