The days following new year were pretty subdued for me to be fair. I was still pretty ruff from the bronchitis and the affects of the medicine. So the start of the year was pretty much resting watching England get spanked by the Ozzies in the Ashes!!
The 2rd was a cool day though. Macca and I decided to walk down to the ground and see if we could obtain some tickets for the first day. Yeah right!! It didn't take us that long to ponder down to the ground and the atmosphere was quality. There was plenty of banter about and green and gold replica jersey's everywhere. I snapped a couple of shots of the ground before heading to the ticket office to be disappointed. We soon heard the tanoy's announced the captain's for the toss - so it was off to the nearest pub to the ground to savor the atmosphere of the match. It was a good day and really quality to be at the SCG. That night I passed out exhausted and Macca and Becki hit the town.
On the 3rd Tom left for good old blighty and Macca and I bedded in to watch the cricket. Not sure where Becki went, but when she had return many hours later we were camped on the roof with a bbq roaring. It was beautiful.
We had decided to leave Sydney on the 6th so the remaining days were taken up by seeing different parts of Sydney that I hadn't visited. We made it through China Town (properly this time) and into the thick of Darling Harbour. It's so pretty down there. After a stroll back to Hyde Park, a sit down was well earned and we watched a family playing cricket on the lawn...very civilised!
So then, it was the day to leave Sydney - for the first time in nearly a month. Both our stuff managed to squeeze into my backpack and so, travelling relatively lightly, the final Greyhound coach was boarded at 3pm - for the 14hr journey to Melbourne.
Bye for now
