Well it is Friday already. This week went way faster than we all thought it would. Being in Belgium we thought it would go slower but we kept ourselves pretty busy. I cannot believe everyone leaves here in two weeks and Michelle and I have less than 3 weeks here :(
Yesterday we headed to Brussels, Belgium for the day to visit the Belgium Parliament. Lindsey, Michelle and I woke up early and grabbed Starbucks at the train station before meeting everyone else at the station. The train station was having a HTC Droid promotion. They covered the stairs with little droids and played alien music, it was pretty sweet because we all got free Droid stress ball characters. We caught the 9:00 train. We had to get off at a stop to jump on a different train and finally arrived in Brussels around 10ish. Trains here are really nice and a lot cooler than airplanes.
We had a little walk until we got to the Parliament where we met with a tour guide. We sat in a room and listened to a monotone guy read from PowerPoint slides and then had to watch the Parliament over a webcast live. Holy boring. I struggled to stay awake but I think about 5 people actually fell asleep so I did not feel so bad. We left the Parliament and started to walk toward the center of town. We passed the Parliament Palace and saw the guards. We saw a bunch of neat architecture and finally made it to the heart of Brussels. We all split up for lunch and went our separate ways. Michelle and I ended up eating with Mary who is the 65 year old on our trip. She is such a funny lady and we get good laughs when she comes along with us for stuff. We had a lot of fun. Lunch was good Michelle had a beer beef stew thing and I had roasted chicken with stewed Apples.
After lunch we met up with Lindsey, Baylee, Jordan, Kailee, Kyle, Nick and Scott. People got Beligum waffles and I tried some Australian ice cream. We hung out in the central square and then headed to meet up with the group for our historical walking tour. By now I know historical walking tours on this trip mean two things: Long hours of walking and a surplus of historical information. The walking tour started off alright until walking on the cobblestone street in high heels became a huge problem. I forgot to mention we had to be in business dress all day so by the third hour of walking my feet had about 4 blisters and I have never been so glad to see the train station in my life!
We got on the wrong train to head back to Antwerp so it took us about 20 min longer to get back but we finally made it around 6:00. We got back to the apartment and we made dinner and I took a shower to try and wake myself up to get ready to start studying. Baylee, Kailee, Michelle, Lindsey and I all studied in our room the rest of the night. We called it and early night so we could get up real early and study today.
We had our review session earlier this morning and now I am sitting at the University doing what I do best on exam days and trying to procrastinate. I still have three hours before the test so I am in good shape. Tomorrow I am heading to Amsterdam for the day with a few people. Michelle is staying in Belgium to go shopping with some people. We leave for Paris early Sunday morning. Hope everyone is doing well back at home!
