VERONA AND THE ROAD TO VENICE
On the way to Venice we stopped in at Verona, which is supposed to be the home of the balcony which gave that famous stoner Shakespeare the visual influence to pen Romeo and Juliet.
That's actually not true. Sorry to burst your bubble there, but unfortunately it's just some balcony on a nice old building and random punters write theirs and their lovers' names on a wall nearby in texta. I reckon our engraved padlock on the bridge in Paris is heaps cooler.
Verona was more awesome because it has a mini-colosseum, one of Russell's training grounds if you will. These days it's used for concerts, and has housed Pearl Jam and Green Day and other less note-worthy acts.
Upon arriving in the outskirts of Venice (no canals yet) we went out for a 3-course meal which was nice. 660ml beers are 2,50€ (that's pretty damn good).
Tomorrow we head to the old part of Venice, with all the water and boats and stuff.
