WATER WORLD

It was time to visit proper tourist Venice today. Unfortunately it rained all day, which did indeed put a dampener on proceedings (pun-tastic).

It's an awesome place and is definitely worth checking out, unless you get seasick I guess. It's very cool though, you'll never see another place like it.

We had a proper gondola ride (in the rain), which was fun, although one of the other couples from our tour group got engaged on their gondola. That's something to write home about - and ballsy, given it was wet, and there were other people on the gondola with them. Well played.

After that a breakaway group of us got some lunch and did a bit of shopping. Nell got a nice necklace and I got a sticker. I also got a photo of Scott Ian (of Anthrax)'s guitar at the Hard Rock Cafe. Rad.

One thing that I didn't like about Venice is that they leave their rubbish in the streets. The local council needs to spring for some wheelie bins, it's a bit of a problem. The place does have a bit of an odour at times, so it's probably good that we didn't go on a hot sunny day.

After a while it just got too wet, so we went back to the hotel mid-afternoon for showers and some fresh clothes. Check it out if you get the chance.

We leave Italy tomorrow for Austria. Get around it.
