It was a long and lonely flight back to Australia for both of us, Julie had flown out of Denver via Los Angeles where her flight was cancelled and she was held up for 24 hours, then she had a 13 hour flight to Sydney before flying down to Melbourne. While Julie was flying to Australia I was riding back across America to St Louis where I have left the bike with a friend. While riding back to St Louis I clocked up 80,000 Kilometres and had to take the photo without Julie in it, which was very disappointing, it was also very strange and lonely not having my navigator on the back. Even though I wasn't going back the same way as we had gone when we headed West, the run back East was through much the same sort of landscape, quite open, flat and grassed. Closer to St Louis though I went through some lovely little towns and forest, I also crossed the Mississippi River a number of times. From St Louis I flew via Dallas, then a 15 hour flight to Brisbane, then down to Melbourne.

We then spent two months in Melbourne helping to arrange Julie's fathers funeral and helping her mum to get back on top of things. We did spend some time visiting friends and family, some we hadn't seen for twelve years.

We could have spent more time in Melbourne helping Julie's mum get on with life, but home was beckoning so we borded a flight back to Perth and were back in time to celerbrate our son's 21st birthday.

We plan on staying in Perth until April 2014 to celerbrate our Granddaughters 3rd birthday, then we will fly back to St Louis via Melbourne, hopefully.
