It always feels kind of funny revisiting a country we have been to, kind of like going home and on this occasion we not only re-entered Bulgaria, we stayed at the same camping ground in Bisar. This time we met the neighbors, we had already had dinner when they invited us over for what we thought was drinks, but it turned out to be dinner, fortunately we had our first dinner early and this second dinner was quite late, around 10.30. It was wonderful, most of it had come from their own garden and animals, we had tomatoes, cucumber, eggs, goats cheese, all home made.
While we were in this camp some guys on Harleys came in, one not running too well, they were from Belgium. In the morning before we left I changed the electronic ignition back to points and he said it had never run so well and that they would meet us at the next camp ground in Veliko to buy us food and drinks. We didn't really know which way we wanted to go to Veliko, we just looked at the map to see if we could find mountain areas and headed north towards the camp we had been told about in Veliko, reputed to be the best in Bulgaria. As luck would have it though our route took us through the Shipka pass, I think the highest in Bulgaria and the pass where the Russian army helped the Bulgarian army fight off the Ottomans and save Bulgaria from becoming part of Turkey. We found a monument that was built to recognise those that lost their lives and it was quite a sight and story. The road up to and from the pass had some amazing views and was wonderful to ride. We arrived in Veliko Camping late in the afternoon and waited until around 8 before having dinner to see if the Belgians arrived, but they didn't, which was concerning. We had planned to take the next day off to swim in the pool and to catch up on blogs etc. It didn't happen, we went for a walk around town in stead, but we did get a swim and then in the afternoon we heard what sounded like Harleys, and it was, the Belgians had made it! It turned out they had made it to within 50 Km when the bike died again so they camped in the forest with no food. In the morning they were able to get the bike picked up and fixed again. It turned out that one of the new parts I had fitted had failed. It was a good night and a late night that night!
The next day we headed north again and into Romania.

Mum/Marion Great write up again Mike. It never ceases to amaze me at the wonderful hospitality, friendship, generosity you encounter from such a wide range of people. Pity you didnt get the Harley running though ! And I thought you were "Mr Fix It" himself.
Janet McIntyre I should've read this before commenting on photos. All has been revealed - and beautifully and informatively. I think you DID fix the Harley, didn't you, Mike? Couldn't help a dodgy part! And, hooray! They arrived. Something to celebrate!
