Yesterday, we went to a park called Beihai Park which contains a huge lake and has an Island in the middle. After walking all of the way to the park which took around 2 hours (much longer than first thought!!) we decided that the best way to see the park was to hire a little electric boat in stead of walking. It was great fun and we saw much more than walking. We then went on to the island (called Jade Island) which was full of little temples leading up to a big temple on the top of a big hill. They were for praying to Buddha I think! On the walk back to the hostel there was a flag taking down ceremony in Tiananmen square so they closed the whole street and road.
Today, we spent most of the day looking for a bank which would let us change some money. Most were closed due to the 7day national holiday as it is The Republic of China's 59th birthday. After eventually finding one we got conned in to a 14pound tea!! All in all a good day.
